How would you know if the guy you're dating is gay?

In my short life on this planet I've had two brushes with gays. Back when I was still in college I remember dating this guy from La Salle (to the La Sallistas out there, sorry but he's really from there). He was very malambing, cariñoso. We would spend hours talking. And, (I know it's embarrasing to say this here now, but it's the truth), I even remember going with him to that place near the Film Center one time, hahahaha. Hey, I was young then, let me stress, I was so much younger then!

I'm glad it did not take me a long time to realize that my feelings for this guy was better kept at the platonic level. After a couple of years I heard from this guy again. He was already openly gay. I assure you I didn't have anything to do with it. It wasn't my fault.

The other guy, on the other hand, I met when I was already working as a journalist . I loved this guy dearly. We were really good friends. Like the guy I mentioned above this one's also tactile. Maasikaso. When I'm with him feeling ko talaga ang haba ng hair ko. I really liked him, fortunately, when he started to realize that he liked me too I was already eyeing somebody else. Little did I know that before I met him he had an, (eherm!), intimate affair with another guy. It's good I found out about this only recently. He is still a good friend.

I told my Dad about these two instances and asked him: What trait do I have that attracts these gays? And he answered, in his all-knowing-way, that gays are drawn to women with stronger personality to compensate for their own real or imagined weakness. Sounds logical. Maybe.

Last night Alex told me that a good way to find out if a guy is gay is to observe him when he is looking at other guys. If he stares at a guy for more than 3-seconds there is a big probability that he is gay, and just like you he spends a lot of time eyeing other guys.

My crazy Dad has a crazy suggestion. Invite the guy to spend the night with you at a motel or some such place. If he is repulsed by the idea (I mean if he gives you that kadiri to death look) then he is really gay (that's according to my Dad!). If he says yes it's up to you to say you're just joking or if you're up to it then...go with the flow.

The definite answer to the question above? You'll never really know. Only time will tell. So just be very careful about the guys you date. And it's good to always keep in mind the 3-second rule.
