Why? Batet?

My 4-year old nephew Sean is in that stage in his life where all he ever does is ask "Why?" or to be more exact, "Batet?" (I assure you he can understand both English and Tagalog though he is as bulol as can be!) Examples: Batet hindi mo ko bidyan nyan, ha? Batet wala ikaw salubong, ha? Batet ikaw cry? Batet danun?

The way he asks these questions is so amusing, of course it helps that he is such a cute and charming kid. (Syempre, mana sa Mommy Joy!--Walang kokontra!)

But what if I try on his shoes for a change and start asking Sean "the why" of things? Will I be as amusing? And how would he reply to each question? Let's try and see:

Me: Batet ato nataba, di na ko napayat?
Sean: Kase dami dami ikaw kain tapos hindi ikaw ni-exercise. Baboy! Sorry!

M: Batet di nagi-improve lovelife ko?
S: Kase bad ikaw eh

M: Batet naubos na ang mango sa ref?
S: Kase nikain ko na, gagah! Ay, sorry!

M: Batet ka nadapa?
S: Kase makulit.

M: Batet hindi ko ma-upload yung comments sa blog ko?
S: Eh, ba-ala ka dyan!
