I haven’t exercised in months. The last time I did some serious exercise I was still a home-based freelancer. Now that I’m working full-time I haven’t had the chance to exercise and dance to my favorite tunes, which included songs from Michael Jackson’s HIStory album.
You see, my exercise routine includes 30 to 45 minutes of cardio exercises, ideally a combination of dancing and some indoor jogging; 15 to 20 minutes of dumbbells; and about 30 minutes of Bar Method, Pilates and Yoga stretching.
Ideally, I should exercise at least 4 times a week. I need the strength one can get only from serious physical activity. I need to stretch to alleviate the pain caused by my right lumbar scoliosis. And I need to dance, and sing while at it, to rejuvenate my soul.
MJ’s songs help me shake off the accumulated lethargy from my humdrum existence. If only for this I will miss him. I will try to exercise again soon, and dance and sing to Beat It, Billie Jean, and Thriller as my way of paying homage to a man who sacrificed his own personal happiness just so I could have beautifully written songs to exercise to.
