Of birthdays and other things
I celebrated my birthday yesterday by watching that surprisingly enlightening Pinoy movie called Milan. I've made it a point to watch well-made Pinoy films, as my way of supporting the local film industry. Before Milan, one great Pinoy film I watched was Crying Ladies.
Last year I remember celebrating my birthday by having lunch with Ms. M at Store Super in Greenbelt 2, she even gave me trinkets designed by her uncle who worked as an artist in Italy. Then I had dinner with some friends at Casa Armas, also in Greenbelt 2. This year, for a P66.00 movie, a tub of buttered popcorn and a large paper cup of green tea that embarassingly tastes like cheap apple juice, I had one swell time. No, the movie wasn't a feel-good one, in fact it is sooo depressing I cried many times while watching it.
I had a great time because of the following reasons:
1. The movie underscored the importance of a project I'm doing right now, as well as some futre projects I have in the pipeline
2. The fact that I spent less than a hundred bucks to celebrate my brithday proves that I am really content with what I have and who I am at this point of my life
3. I can have a great time alone! yey!
4. I realized I had completely gotten over my heartache
5. I had a good conversation with my Dad about my lovelife and he affirmed my decision to let go of this guy I loved dearly. "Remain friendly to him, but do not fall in love again because you'll have a miserable life together. You'll never be happy living with a guy like that, you are poles apart."
6. At this age, I still have a wise Dad I can talk to and run to
7. I have Sean, definitely the best 4-year-old in the world
8. I got a swell deal yesterday, someone offered me a good monthly sum for some easy work
9. I've gotten my groove back
10. My life has a purpose!
To summarize: It was one huge haberdey to me!!!
